A Firepit produces light and heat and can be used as a crafting station. Unlike the campfire, the firepit lasts for many days before burning out. When burning out or destroyed by the player it produces ashes.
Benji Parr has stated that the firepit is intended to be a permanent object that doesn't burn out and is likely bugged at the moment.
